Folk Around & Find Out Festival Columbia Missouri Dive Bar

The 3rd annual Folk Around & Find Out Festival is happening at Dive Bar Saturday, October 19th! Music and festivities will kick off around noon and go until 11pm. What makes this festival so unique and special?

Dick Johnson Folk Around & Find Out Festival Columbia Missouri

The Columbia area is known for many music, art and film festivals it has held throughout the years. The former Roots & Blues Festival, True/False Film Festival, Dismal Niche (Columbia Experimental Music Festival) and more. None of which have a folk focused theme. Dick Johnson wanted to change that narrative for Columbia and offer an all-folk festival.

What can you expect from The Folk Around & Find Out Festival? To start, live folk musical performances that run from noon until 11pm. You can also shop unique arts and crafts vendors throughout the daytime. It is Mizzou Homecoming weekend, so we will be running a Mizzou themed menu here at Dive Bar that day.

A portion of the proceeds from the food and drinks on the festival menu that day will go directly to the artists who make this festival possible. Enjoy a Truman’s Punch, Tiger’s Lobster Mac & Cheese, Back Home Chicken Sandwich or Touchdown Black Bean Burger. Although you can order our regular delicious food that day, below is the festival menu.

What about the music?

Folk yes. We have music! Some musicians on the festival lineup this year are festival coordinator and founder, Dick Johnson. Mike Davis is a country/folk solo musician who has made a real impact around the Midwest in the last few years. Meredith Shaw is another artist from right here in Missouri who’s making quite the name for herself, as well as Travis Feutz & The Stardust Cowboys. You can hear Columbia’s newest folk group, Zawata that was created by Dylan McCord. A few solo artists on the lineup this year are Johnathan Parker, Drew Baxter, Rayce Kendrick, Brandon Stewart and more!

This is a family friendly event, stay all day or just come by for a bit! Our festival menu offers quick eats if you are trying to avoid the downtown homecoming crowd that day, AND you’ll get to hear live folk music! There is no cover charge for this event, yes, it’s FREE!

Visit the Facebook event to see the full lineup and updates. We can’t wait to see you!
